Keep It Running Smoothly

Trash Pickup Rules & Bin Guidelines

A few simple habits keep your pickup fast, safe, and on time every week. Here's what to know about setting out your cart and what belongs inside it.

Setting Out Your Cart

  • Set your cart out the night before, or by 6:00 a.m. on pickup day
  • Keep the lid fully closed — don't overfill the cart
  • Bag your trash before putting it in the cart

Curb Placement

  • Wheels toward your house, cart facing the street
  • About 3 feet of clearance from mailboxes, vehicles, and other obstacles
  • Keep the area around the cart clear so our crew can work quickly

What Can't Go In the Cart

For crew safety and to follow standard waste-handling rules, these items don't go in your trash cart:

  • Hazardous waste — paint, motor oil, chemicals, batteries
  • Hot ashes or coals
  • Construction or demolition debris
  • Tires
  • Appliances and large metal items
  • Electronics

Yard Trimmings

Small, bagged yard trimmings are fine as long as the lid still closes fully. For anything larger — a big cleanup, a fallen branch, and the like — call us first so we can tell you the best way to handle it.
